Andy Ferrell – “At Home and In Nashville”

Andy Ferrell was born in Boone, North Carolina and grew up in the heart of the magical Blue Ridge Mountains, the birthplace of Appalachian traditional music and the source of so much inspiration and spirit.  A love of the work of Doc Watson, Hank Williams and Townes Van Zandt (now there’s a mighty trio!) and the influence of a folk guitarist father has seemingly sealed his fate.

At Home and In Nashville is the name of his album and it is a beautiful fit, as it bridges the quiet homespun lifestyle with the busy bright lights and glamour of Music City.  The album was recorded, in fact, between Nashville (Quad Studios with a full band of session players) and Boone (in a house with an adoring live audience) and it contains an intriguing blend of old-time traditional roots songs with a more polished country sound.   Continue reading

The Americana Music Association has announced the nominees for its 15th annual Honors & Awards.  The winners of each category will be revealed during the Americana Honors and Awards show on September 21 2016 at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN.  The celebrated program is the capstone event of “AmericanaFest,” the Americana Music Festival and Conference, which runs from September 20-25, 2016.

AmericanaFest 2016 September 20 to 25

The Americana Music Association announced today the first seventy of more than 180 artists slated to perform at the 17th Annual Americana Music Festival & Conference, which runs from September 20 to 25 in Nashville, TN.

Evening showcase wristbands go on sale at the lower price of $60.  Festival & Conference registrations (currently $225 for members/$325 for non-members) offer priority admission into all showcase venues, sanctioned parties and events, daytime educational panels, and can be purchased here.  At this time, only conference registrants may purchase Honors & Awards show tickets.

Our house is just south of The Gulch and a thirty minute walk away from downtown Broadway – today we needed it made ‘livable’.  It’s good to have Sandra and Jason with us.  Breakfast at Bond Coffee Company, followed by a motor to Opry Mills, the shopping centre that I like to frequent on every trip to Nashville.
